Nordic days at school 27. October sekretar
A week before the autumn break, Nordic days were held at our school and focused mainly on Sweden. The well-known children's writer Astrid Lindgren is from Sweden. One of the children's favorite books is "Master Detective Blomkvist". The 5th grade students, together with their class teacher Katrin Kerd, prepared and read a chapter from this book to the younger students in the school assembly hall and then asked questions based on it.
The reading was followed by a quiz prepared by teacher Monika about Astrid Lindgren's works and biography. Teacher Monika put up an interesting exhibition on the wall of the first floor, where there were introductions of the writer's books and posters about her life. So many students have shown that they are familiar with Astrid Lindgren's works and have also familiarized themselves with the exhibition materials.
As part of the event, several grades were offered to bake cinnamon buns in the school's crafts house. These aromatic pastries (kanelbullar in Swedish) come from Sweden and October 4th is known as the International Cinnamon Roll Day. Under the guidance and helping hands of Kaja S, children (3rd grade) to older (9th grade) could try the art of baking. The working instructions in English given by Oksana and Lyudmila were understandable and added a dash of zing to the work process, everyone managed beautifully. The young bakers enjoyed baking and were happy to share the "homemade" cinnamon buns with other students and teachers.
English teachers are extremely grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to these events!
